Snow White

This Book (like the Movie) Started It All
Favorite Debut Book From an Author

snow-white           harry_potter_and_the_sorcerers_stone

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was the book that started it all for me. If it wasn’t for this book (and eventual series), I don’t know if I would be the avid reader that I am today.

Cinderella

A Diamond in the Rough
Just Like Cinderella, You Either Didn’t Expect Much Out of This Character in the Beginning But Turned Out to Be a Total Jem

cinderella tag             11387515

When I first picked up WonderI wasn’t sure what to expect. At first, I thought this might be a good book for my students. After all, another teacher in the same grade was using it. Then, I read it and I fell in love with Auggie and his family. Currently, I’ve read the book three times. One of those times was with my in-person book club!

Aurora

Sleeping Beauty
A Book That Makes You Sleepy or Just Could Not Hold Your Attention

aurora          292327

I had read The Bluest Eye with my in-person book club, and I’m not sure what it was, but it took me sooo long to finish it. It has been a while since I’ve read it, but I remember that every page just dragged. I don’t know if it was the writing style, the storyline, or I picked terrible times to read. What I do know is that everyone else in my in-person book club also felt the same way, lol!

Ariel

Under the Sea
A Book With a Water/Ocean Setting

ariel tag             36120821
I recently finished To Kill a Kingdom, and it definitely has a water/ocean setting! You’ve got some pirates, sirens, and a lot of time water time.

Belle

Beauty and the Books
Name a Book With the Best Bookworm/Book Lover

belle tag                   49116
Hermione Granger, of course! I chose this book cover because, I think, this is the only one has our favorite bookworm.

Jasmine

The Thief and the Princess
Name Book with an Unlikely Love Story (Either in Terms of Romance or a Book You Didn’t Expect to Love So Much)

jasmine              Book Cover
Breaking Sandcastles was a sweet love story took me by surprise a bit because I wasn’t sure what to expect exactly. A student/teacher relationship can be tricky to explore, but luckily the love they felt wasn’t explored until the student was of age and the two had spent years without any contact.

Pocahontas

The Real Life Princess
Name a Book that is Based on a Real Life Person You Want to Read/Have Read

poch               17675031

As I was going through my Goodreads list, I remembered this one. It was shortly after I read The Fault in Our Stars that I found This Star Won’t Go Out. It was such a sweet, but sad book and one that I remember devouring fairly quickly.

Mulan

The Princess that Saved Her Country
Name the Fiercest Heroine You Know

mulan         18710619

Without a doubt, I would have to say Daenerys Targaryen is a pretty fierce young woman!

Tiana

The Princess With The Coolest And Most Diverse Crew
Name a diverse book whether it is a diverse set of characters (like Tiana’s group of Naveen, Louis, Ray, and more) or just diverse in general

tiana tag                  Book Cover
I was given an ARC copy of Trials of a Teenage Werevultureand I really enjoyed it. Not only is our female lead is one of color, but there are an interesting cast of characters here. Most of which are part-human and part-animal.

Rapunzel

Let Your Longggggg Hair Down
Name the Longest Book You’ve Ever Read

rapunzel               10664113

I believe A Dance with Dragons is the longest book I’ve read. If not this one, definitely one in the A Song of Ice and Fire series!

Merida

I Determine My Own Fate
A Book Where There is No Love Story/Interest or Isn’t Needed

merida             36443315
As I was looking through the books I’ve read, I did notice that many do have some sort of love story with the exception of some children’s book. Bob in particular was such a sweet and innocent story geared toward the younger crowd. The only love here was family- and friendship-based, which was refreshing.

Anna/Elsa

Frozen Hearts
A Book in the Winter/Cold Setting

      34912895

Most of The Great Alone takes place in Alaska. They do experience some milder weather during the summer months. However, most of the year, it’s cold and dark, so I thought it would be appropriate for this category.

Moana

How Far I’ll Go
A Character That Goes on a Journey

moana head                  15818107

I never really knew that orphan trains existed until reading Orphan Train. It’s a book that has a present storyline and a reflective past where one of the protagonists traveled via orphan trains trying to find a place to live.
