Why did I choose to DNF this book?
I started this children’s book last month because it’s been on my bookshelf for literally years! I was in the mood for something light and fluffy to read. Something that wouldn’t require too much brain power, but could be entertaining. Right from the beginning, I was intrigued. Fairy tales, siblings who need to work together to get back home, magical creatures? Sounds great!
Unfortunately, my interest started to fade about a third in, and it became harder and harder to want to pick up this book. I don’t feel the story is poorly written or it’s not entertaining, it’s just that I feel like I’m too old (and without any nostalgia attached to it) to be able to enjoy this sweet story.
Though I can see youngsters enjoying this and will definitely keep this around of any future youngsters, I will not be completing this book on my own at this time.
Have you read The Wishing Spell? What did you think of it?
