Unfortunately, I did not make my targeted goal for 2020. I was well on my way, but then baby came along and took up a lot of my time. It was really challenging to find time for myself. Obviously, there isn’t any regret because we love our little one and I wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world. I did end up finishing my reread of the Harry Potter series and read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, so at some point I’ll write those reviews, but even so, I would not have made my 50 books goal. To me, that’s okay because the circumstance that prevented me from reading was one that was well worth it. 👶💕
This year, I am aiming for a more realistic goal of 25 books. However, now I’m just not reading for my own enjoyment, I’m also trying to help our little one understand the joy books can bring to one’s day. We read…a lot! On average, we’re reading 6 or 7 books a day, both English and bilingual ones (Spanish and English) of varying degree in complexity. Sometimes the language is simple (or I make it simple), sometimes it’s mainly pictures, and sometimes there are several sentences per page. We read soft books, hardcover, board books, and even munch-able ones (since basically everything goes into the mouth). We have musical books and books that flip open on certain pages to encourage object permanence. We even re-read some of our favorites (over and over again, lol). It’s been a wild ride, but a beautiful one. As time goes on, I do plan on reviewing some of the books I read with my little one and we’ll see how far I can make it this year with reading books that are on my TBR list!
I’m excited to back reading, reviewing, and blogging! Here’s to another great year of reading and reviewing to everyone! 🎉
